[Entrevista] Gromee: "Light Me Up fala sobre a luz nas pessoas"

Gromee vai representar a Polónia no Festival Eurovisão da Canção em Lisboa com a canção "Light Me Up". O cantor aceitou responder a algumas perguntas feitas pelo Crónicas de Eurofestivais, que agora trazemos em exclusivo para si.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Como começou a sua carreira musical?

Gromee (G):  A minha carreira começou quando eu tinha 16 anos, no momento em que me apaixonei pela produção musical.

CE: Quem é a sua inspiração musical?

G: A minha maior inspiração é Dave Gahan, dos Depeche Mode. Porquê? Porque acho que ele é extremamente talentoso e tem uma voz mágica. Os Depeche Mode são uma banda lendária. Eles têm-me inspirado desde pequeno. As músicas deles são bastante emotivas e as letras carregadas de significado.

CE: Como começou a sua aventura na Eurovisão?

G: Já há bastante tempo que os meus fãs me pediam para concorrer à Eurovisão. Este ano eles incentivaram-me mais uma vez. Desta forma, e depois de ponderar, pensei, "porque não?". Na verdade, há uma história engraçada por detrás disto tudo. Um dos meus fãs questionou-me no Facebook se eu gostaria de participar no concurso. Eu simplesmente enviei-lhe um emoji dum rosto pensativo em resposta. No dia seguinte, um site escreveu: "Gromee está a considerar a sua participação na Eurovisão”. Logo, e depois dessa notícia, todos me bombardearam com uma série de perguntas. Foi, então, que decidi entrar no concurso, e fi-lo pelos meus fãs.

CE: Qual é a história da música "Light Me Up" e como ela foi criada?

G: Para mim, esta música fala sobre a luz das pessoas. Essa luz que nos mostra o caminho, sempre que nos encontramos perdidos. No decorrer da minha vida, pessoas positivas iluminaram o meu caminho e elevaram o meu espírito. A nossa música, assim, traz essas boas emoções. É como uma banda sonora para "aqueles" momentos felizes. Desta forma, pretende-se criar vibrações positivas e passá-las para quem nos ouve. 

CE: Como se sente ao representar a Polónia na Eurovisão 2018? 

G: Eu sinto-me bastante animado! Tenho orgulho de poder representar o meu país. É uma aventura completamente nova para mim. O que posso dizer mais? Estou apenas feliz.

CE: Costuma seguir a Eurovisão? O que acha do concurso? Tem alguma música favorita?

G: Sim, sempre acompanhei a Eurovisão. É um evento incrível, uma mistura de diferentes culturas. Este festival é vibrante e pujante. Nesta ocasião, esquecemos conflitos, diferenças e divisões. O mais importante é a música e a atmosfera de amizade entre todos.

CE: Podemos esperar alguma surpresa ou novidade na actuação?

G: Se  eu  contasse, já não seria uma surpresa. :)

CE: Este ano a Eurovisão será realizada na cidade de Lisboa. O que espera desta cidade?

G: Eu já estive em Portugal algumas vezes, mas nunca visitei Lisboa. Estou muito animado por poder conhecê-la. Eu ouvi dizer que é uma cidade mágica, cheia de vida e cores. Na minha opinião, a nossa música combina perfeitamente com esse lugar incrível. É ensolarado e revigorante. 

CE: Além de ganhar a Eurovisão, qual é o seu maior sonho neste momento?

G: O meu maior sonho neste momento é chegar às pessoas com a minha música.

CE: Nomeie 5 das suas coisas favoritas (comida, tv, filmes)

G: Canja de galinha, paelha, pintura, piano, teatro e ópera.

CE: Quais os seus projectos futuros?

G: O meu novo álbum intitulado "Chapter One" está prestes a ser lançado e eu também vou iniciar uma tour com concertos promocionais.

Gromee is going to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, with the song "Light Me Up". He accepted to answer some questions made by Crónicas de Eurofestivais, and now we bring them as an exclusive to you.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): How did your musical career begin?

Gromee (G):  My career started when I was 16 when I became fascinated with music production and sound engineering.

CE: Who is your musical inspiration?

G: My biggest inspiration is Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode. Why? Because I think he’s extremely talented and has a very magical voice. Depeche Mode is a legendary band. They have been inspiring me since my childhood. Their emotionally loaded songs have meaningful lyrics.

CE: How did your Eurovision adventure start?

G: For many years my fans have been asking me to perform in the Eurovision song contest. This year they have asked me one more time. So I thought ”why not?”. Actually, there’s a funny story behind it. One of my fans asked me on Facebook whether I’d like to participate in the contest. I simply posted a thinking face emoji under his comment.  The next day one website wrote, "Gromee is considering the Eurovision”. After this post, everybody bombarded me with lots of questions. I decided to enter the contest. I did it for my fans.

CE: What’s the story behind the song "Light Me Up"?

G: To me, this song is about the light in people. This light shows us the way every time we feel lost. In my life, positive people light me up and lift my spirit. Our song brings good emotions. It’s like a soundtrack to happy moments. It creates positive vibes and puts you in a cheerful mood. The upbeat music will help everyone to find their silver lining. This song came to life in my Polish studio and in the Swedish studio too.

CE: How do you feel about representing Poland at the Eurovision 2018?

G: I feel excited! I’m proud I can represent my country. It’s a completely new adventure. What can I say? I’m just happy.

CE: Do you usually follow the Eurovision? What do you think of the contest? Do you have any favourite songs?

G: Yes, I have always followed the Eurovision contest. It’s an amazing event, a  mixture of different cultures. This festival is vibrant and empowering. On this occasion, we forget about conflicts, differences and divisions. The most important thing is music and friendly atmosphere.    

CE: Can we expect any surprise from your performance?

G: If I told you, there wouldn’t be any surprise anymore.

CE: This year the Eurovision will be held in the Lisbon. Are you looking forward to this city?

G: Yes, I have been to Portugal a few times, but I’ve never visited Lisbon. I’m so excited to see it. I’ve heard it’s a magical city, full of life and colours. In my opinion, our song perfectly matches this amazing place It’s sunny and invigorating. Just like my music.

CE: Besides winning Eurovision, what’s your biggest dream at the moment?

G: My biggest dream at the moment is to light people up with my music.

CE: Name 5 of your favourite things (food, tv, movies)

G: Chicken soup, paella, painting, piano, theatre, opera.

CE: Do you have future projects coming?

G: My new album "Chapter One” is coming out soon and I’m starting some promo concerts as well. Then I’m planning to work on my new material,
