Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Como é que tudo começou?

Pernilla Karlsson: Eu sempre cantei, mas agora é que tenho treinado com mais avinco. O meu irmão é um bom produtor musical, então ele “obriga-me” a cantar e a interpretar os temas!  

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Qual o tipo de música que costumas ouvir?

Pernilla Karlsson: Eu oiço de tudo um pouco, mas adoro Florence and the Machine!  

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Consideraste um fã da Eurovisão? É mesmo um sonho representar o teu país?

Pernilla Karlsson: Desde que me lembro, sempre vi a Eurovisão. É mesmo um sonho realizado representar o meu país no evento! Nunca pensei que isto acontecesse.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Qual a canção da Eurovisão que mais te marcou?

Pernilla Karlsson: Talvez os Abba com “Waterloo” em 1974, esta canção nunca irá morrer. Mas existem outras boas no concurso, claro!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Sobre a tua canção, o que nos podes contar?

Pernilla Karlsson: Eu fiz esta canção com o meu irmão quando a nossa mãe fez 50 anos. É uma canção muita honesta e emocional e, com ela, sei que demonstrei à minha mãe o quanto eu a amo e a respeito.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Sobre a tua atuação em maio, já tens algo preparado?

Pernilla Karlsson: Vai continuar muito simples, com as mesmas pessoas em palco. Mas irei ter um bonito vestido!  

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Como te irás sentir se a Finlândia conseguir passar à final?

Pernilla Karlsson: Oh, eu ficaria muito agradecida e feliz, significa imenso para mim. Mas eu irei dar o meu melhor na semifinal e espero que consiga a final.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Considerando que a Finlândia ganhava este ano o festival, como te irias sentir?

Pernilla Karlsson: Significava imenso para mim, nem tenho palavras para expressar-me. Mas, por agora, irei aproveitar esta oportunidade e dar o meu melhor na competição.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Já ouviste alguma música concorrente? Qual a tua favorita?

Pernilla Karlsson: Eu tenho de admitir que ainda não ouvi todas, mas gosto imenso da música sueca e cipriota.  

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: O que achas da música que Portugal vai levar (“Vida Minha” de Filipa Sousa)?

Pernilla Karlsson: Ela canta muito bem, é uma boa canção. Eu gosto imenso e acho que tem potencial.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Depois da Eurovisão tens algum projecto?

Pernilla Karlsson: Agora tenho estado a trabalhar no meu novo trabalho com o meu irmão, por isso irei gastar imenso a gravar canções no verão.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Gostarias de voltar um dia à Eurovisão?

Pernilla Karlsson: Eu penso que só se tem esta oportunidade uma vez na vida, mas se tivesse oportunidade, claro!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: How did Pernilla Karlsson started?

Pernilla Karlsson: I have always been singing much, but mostly I´ve done sports lately. My brother is a very good Music producer, so he made me sing and perform again!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Who are your musical inspirations and what kind of music do you generally listen to? 

Pernilla Karlsson: I listen to almost all kind of music, but I really like Florence and the Machine.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Are you a regular follower of Eurovision, an ESC-fan?  It has been a dream to go to Eurovision to represent your country?

Pernilla Karlsson: As far as I can remember, I´ve always watched the ESC. It´s really a dream come true for me to get to represent my country in the ESC! I didn´t believe this was going to happen!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What's the song that has marked you most in the history of Eurovision?

Pernilla Karlsson: Maybe Abba with Waterloo in 1974, that is a song that never dies. Of course I remember songs with a good show too!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: About your song, what could you tell us about it?

Pernilla Karlsson: We made this song with my brother to our mothers 50th birthday. It is a very honest and emotional song and with the song we want to tell our mother how much we love her and respect her.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: About your performance in May, do you have something already planned?

Pernilla Karlsson: I will keep it very simple, just me and my cellist on stage. But I will have a very beautiful dress!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What would be your feelings if Finland is one of the 10 qualifiers on semi-final 1?

Pernilla Karlsson: Oh, I would be so thankful and happy, it would mean so much to me. But I will do my best in the semifinals and hope that it will go well.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Consider you winning the great final of Eurovision 2012, what would it mean for you?

Pernilla Karlsson: It would mean a lot, I can´t heaven explain in words. But for now I will just enjoy this opportunity and do my best in the competition!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Have you heard any of the other songs in competition? What’s your favourite?

Pernilla Karlsson: I have to admit that I still haven’t found time to listen to all the others, but some of them I´ve heard. I like Sweden's and Cyprus'.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What do you think about the song that Portugal will send to the Eurovision ("My Life" by Filipa Sousa)?

Pernilla Karlsson: She sings really really good, it´s a very nice song! I like it a lot and think that it has a great potential.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: After Eurovision, do you have any projects?

Pernilla Karlsson: I´m now working on new material with my brother so I will spend much time in the studio recording songs this summer.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Would you like to return one day to Eurovision?

Pernilla Karlsson: I think it´s a once in a life time thing, but of course if I would if I have a chance to do it!

INTERVIEW: GAITANA (UKRAINE ESC2012)!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: How did your career started?

Gaitana: My career started in 2001 when I signed a contract with the most famous Ukrainian music holding - Lavina Music. My producer Edward Klim believed in my music, talent and saw that I had great chances of becoming famous artist. I’m very grateful to him for that. I always respect, appreciate and admire that person. Due to his support I have come to such heights. At first I sang at the restaurants and jazz festivals, where I was invited to perform as a backing vocalist. But that wasn’t enough… When I signed a contract with Lavina Music my real Gaitana’s career started. I remember how happy I was when we shot the first music video and released the first album. I’m thankful to destiny and God that everything happened in such a way! I recorded and released five albums as well as 20 music videos within 10 years of my career, became a producer and author of music album “Kukabarra” for children, which was created together with the most talented kids from the whole Ukraine. I was awarded with such titles as: the “Showbiz Award” for best European Star the Ukrainian Music Award for "Best Female Singer of the Year" and for "Best Album of the Year" for the album "Secret Desires", became a winner in the nomination “Star in Commercials” with “Warmth of Words” video by KyivStar.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Who are your musical inspirations and what kind of music do you generally listen to?

Gaitana: I remember, when I was a child I wore my mother’s red shoes, backcombed my hair and sang favorite songs by Diana Ross with a comb in the hand and really enjoyed it. This artist has always inspired me with her voice and music. She is genius and I can’t stop repeating that. When my dad presented me the first album of Diana Ross I was incredibly happy. I also adore Sade, D'angelo, Mary J, Estelle, Prince, Barbra Streisand.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Are you a regular follower of Eurovision, an ESC-fan? It has been a dream to go to Eurovision to represent your country?

Gaitana: I’ve been following Eurovision all the time, though I’m not really a fan. Sometimes I didn’t have a chance to watch the whole contest, because of specific circumstances, but the most outstanding performances I always watched in the internet.   Frankly speaking, it wasn’t my dream. Quite the contrary, the decision was rather impulsive. When the song “Be my guest” appeared I understood that it couldn’t exist only within one country. I’ve had a desire to call the whole Europe for friendship. I filed an application for participation at the last moment. I performed, won and now my dream to unite the whole world comes true – I’m going to implement my idea from the stage of Eurovision 2012.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What's the song that has marked you most in the history of Eurovision?

Gaitana: Most of all I was impressed by Marija Šerifović, who won in 2007. Her song “Molitva” amazed me completely. Such a strong voice together with unbelievable melody fascinated and astonished. I was happy that she was the one, who won.  Also, Ruslana’s performance remains in my memory. Her song “Dyki Tantsi” (Wild dances) with its incredible energy astonished everyone. She rocked Eurovision totally.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: About your song, what could you tell us about it?

Gaitana: First of all, I want to share my love and energy of my heart with the whole Europe. My song choice wasn’t spontaneous. I have an intention to invite the whole world and Europe to be our guests. I wish all people to become friends and share their joy, smiles with each other. On behalf of all Ukrainians I would like to say – dear friends, we’re waiting for you. The story of song creation is really incredible. At the end of 2011 I met talented guys from "Kiwi-project". They wrote me a letter and told that they had a great song idea and they believed I should write lyrics and melody to their music. When I heard the motive of the composition I began to dance from the first seconds. Unbelievable feeling of happiness showed up and the words “Be my guest” came to my mind.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: About your performance in May, do you have something already planned?

Gaitana: On May, 14 I fly to Azerbaijan together with my delegation. We’ll spend 2 weeks in Baku. There’re so many plans. The schedule is rigid. Concerning my performance, I intend to impress the whole Europe. I won’t go into details; I could say that the show is going to be created by the best directors.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What would be your feelings if Ukraine is one of the 10 qualifiers on semi-final 2?

Gaitana: To tell you the truth, my main purpose is to pass the message of the song and the idea of my performance. The audience should decide who the best is and should I be one of the 10 qualifiers on semi-final.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Consider you winning the great final of Eurovision 2012, what would it mean for you?

Gaitana: I believe that firstly we should win and then answer to this question. I’m sure that victory brings happiness to every person…

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Have you heard any of the other songs in competition? What’s your favorite?

Gaitana: I follow Eurovision 2012 contestants with interest. I’m sure that a lot of incredible and outstanding performers will represent their countries. In my opinion, competition will be fierce this year. I love representatives of Sweden and Lithuania and I’ve also got favorites – Loreen and Donny Montell. Furthermore, Nina from Italy has a great song and some others artists from Denmark, Albania, Croatia etc. They are all worthy of attention.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: What do you think about the song that Portugal will send to the Eurovision ("My Life" by Filipa Sousa)?

Gaitana: The song is really beautiful, thrilling voice and charming melody. Filipa Sousa is a bright and fascinating artist.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: After Eurovision, do you have any projects?

Gaitana: Of course, there’re many plans. This year Ukraine is a host country of Euro 2012. This event is incredibly important for every Ukrainian.  Due to the fact that I’m Official Friend of Euro 2012 and the author of number of sport anthems, I’m really looking forward when everything happen. This year after Eurovision 2012 I plan to release my 6^th album, which was created by the best musicians and sound producers, who collaborate with the most outstanding stars of the world - Narada Michael Walden (Jeff Beck, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), Eric Daniels (Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson), Rob Hoffman (Christina Aguilera), Robert dumper (Kenny G). The album was recorded in San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles. I believe everyone will love my new album.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Would you like to return one day to Eurovision?

Gaitana: I don’t even know… I’m sure that I would incredibly enjoy everything that is going to happen at the Eurovision Song Contest. However, I always try to move forward whatever happens. Eurovision will be my next stage and I would think of it with smile. I believe you know that first impression and first emotions are the brightest and the sweetest. When you try to repeat doing something - you’re disappointed, because nothing repeats twice.

ENTREVISTA EXCLUSIVA: GAITANA (UCRÂNIA ESC2012)!

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Como começou a sua carreira?

Gaitana: A minha carreira começou em 2001, quando assinei um contrato com a mais famosa editora ucraniana – Lavina Music. O meu produtor, Edward Klim, acreditou na minha música, no meu talento e viu que eu tinha grandes hipóteses de me tornar numa artista famosa. Estou muito grata com ele por isso. Eu irei sempre respeitar, apreciar e admirar essa pessoa. Devido à sua ajuda, eu consegui chegar às alturas. Primeiro, cantava em restaurantes e festivais de jazz, onde eu era convidada a cantar como corista. Mas isso não era suficiente… Quando assinei o contrato com a Lavina Music, a minha verdadeira carreira começou. Lembro-me do quão feliz quando gravei o meu primeiro vídeoclipe e realizei o primeiro álbum. Estou muito agradecida ao destino e a Deus por tudo isto ter acontecido. Já gravei e lancei cinco álbuns, assim como 20 videoclipes nos meus 10 anos de carreira, e tornei-me produtora e autora do album musical para crianças “Kukabarra”, que foi criado em conjunto com algumas das crianças mais talentosas da Ucrânia. Ganhei também alguns prémios, como por exemplo: o “Showbiz Award”, para a melhor Estrela Europeia, o “Ukrainian Music Award” para “Melhor Intérprete Feminina” e para “Melhor Álbum”, com o meu trabalho “Secret Desires”. Venci também quando fui nomeada no prémio “Star in Commercials”, com o video dirigido pela KyivStar, “Warmth of Words”.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Quem são as suas inspirações do mundo da música, e que estilos musicais aprecia mais ouvir?

Gaitana: Lembro-me que quando era criança, calcei os sapatos vermelhos da minha mãe, penteei o cabelo e cantei as minhas canções favoritas de Diana Ross com uma escova na mão e adorei. Esta artista tem-me sempre inspirado com a sua voz e música. Ela é genial e eu não consigo parar de repeti-lo. Quando o meu pai me presenteou com o primeiro album de Diana Ross, eu estava incrivelmente feliz. Também adoro Sade, D’angelo, Mary J., Estelle, Prince, Barbra Streisand.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Costuma seguir atentamente o Festival da Eurovisão? Tem sido um sonho seu representar o seu país neste mesmo festival?

Gaitana: Tenho seguido sempre a Eurovisão, mesmo não sendo propriamente uma fã. Às vezes não tenho oportunidade de ver o espetáculo inteiro, devido a específicas circunstâncias, mas as melhores performances, vejo sempre na internet. Dizendo a verdade, não era um sonho. Pelo contrário, foi até impulsivo. Quando a canção “Be My Guest” apareceu, eu percebi que ela não poderia existir em apenas um país. Tive o desejo de chamar toda a Europa para amizade. Preenchi o formulário de inscrição nos últimos momentos. Participei na final nacional e venci. Agora o meu sonho de unir o mundo inteiro tornou-se real – Vou implementar a ideia no palco do ESC 2012.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Qual foi a canção que a marcou mais na história da Eurovisão?

Gaitana: Acima de tudo, fiquei impressionada por Marija Šerifović, que venceu em 2007. A sua canção “Molitva” encantou-me completamente. Uma voz tão forte aliada a uma melodia inacreditável e abismal. Fiquei feliz por ter sido ela a vencer. A performance de Ruslana também permanece na minha memória. A sua canção “Dyki Tantsi (Wild Dances)” com a sua incrível energia, abismou toda a gente. Ela mexeu totalmente com a Eurovisão.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Sobre a sua canção, que nos pode dizer acerca dela?

Gaitana: Antes de tudo, eu quero partilhar o meu amor e a energia do meu coração com toda a Europa. A minha canção não foi espontânea. Eu tenho a intenção de convidar todo o mundo e a Europa a serem os nossos convidados. Desejo que todas as pessoas se tornem amigas e partilhem a sua felicidade e sorrisos uns com os outros. Em nome de todos os ucranianos, eu gostaria de dizer – queridos amigos, estamos à vossa espera. A história da criação da canção, é incrível.  No fim de 2011, conheci pessoas talentosas do “Kiwi-project”. Eles enviaram-me depois uma carta a dizer que tinham uma grande ideia para uma canção e acreditavam que eu deveria escrever a letra e compor a melodia para a mesma. Quando ouvi a composição, comecei a dançar logo nos primeiros segundos. Sentimentos inacreditáveis de alegria apareceram e as palavras “Be my guest” vieram à minha mente.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Sobre a sua apresentação em palco em Maio, tem alguma ideia já planeada?

Gaitana: No dia 14 de Maio, vou voar para o Azerbaijão, juntamente com a minha delegação. Iremos ficar 2 semanas em Baku. Existem tantos planos. Os horários são rígidos. Sobre a minha atuação, tenho intenções de impressionar toda a Europa. Não vou entrar em detalhes, mas posso dizer que todo o espetáculo irá ser criado pelos melhores diretores.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Como se sentiria se a Ucrânia fosse um dos 10 qualificados na semi-final 2? 

Gaitana: Para dizer a verdade, o meu objetivo principal é passar a mensagem da canção e a ideia da minha atuação. Os telespetadores devem decidir quem é o melhor e quem deve ser um dos 10 qualificados na semifinal. 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Considere que vence a grande final do ESC 2012, o que isso significaria para si? 

Gaitana: Acredito que primeiro temos de ganhar e depois responder a esta questão. Estou certa de que uma vitória trás felicidade a cada pessoa... 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Já ouviu alguma das outras canções em competição? Qual a sua favorita? 

Gaitana: Sigo os representantes do ESC 2012 com interesse. Acredito que os países serão representados por incrivéis e fantásticos artistas. Na minha opinião, a competição este ano será feroz. Adoro os representantes da Suécia e Lituânia e também tenho alguns favoritos – Loreen e Donny Montell. Além deles, a Nina da Itália tem uma excelente canção e outros artistas da Dinamarca, Albânia, Croácia, etc. Todos merecem atenção. 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: O que acha da canção portuguesa (“Vida Minha” de Filipa Sousa)? 

Gaitana: A canção é muito bonita, voz emocionante e melodia encantadora. A Filipa Sousa é uma brilhante e fascinante cantora. 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Depois da Eurovisão, tem alguns projectos? 

Gaitana: Com certeza, muitos projetos. Este ano, a Ucrânia é o país organizador do Euro 2012. Este evento é incrivelmente importante para cada ucraniano. Devido ao facto de que sou uma “Official Friend of Euro 2012” e também autora de alguns hinos desportivos, estou muito ansiosa para que tudo aconteça. Este ano, depois do ESC 2012, planeio realizar o meu 6º album, que foi criado pelos melhores músicos e produtores musicais que já colaboraram com algumas das mais extraordinárias estrelas mundiais – Narada Michael Walden (Jeff Beck, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), Eric Daniels (Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson), Rob Hoffman (Christina Aguilera), Robert Dumper (Kenny G). O álbum foi gravado em São Francisco, Seattle e Los Angeles. Acredito que toda a gente irá amar o meu novo álbum.

 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais: Gostaria de regressar um dia à Eurovisão? 

Gaitana: Eu nem sei... Estou certa de que iria adorar tudo o que se passaria no Festival da Eurovisão da Canção. No entanto, eu tento sempre avançar, aconteça o que acontecer. A Eurovisão será o meu próximo passo e eu vou pensar nisso com um sorriso. Acredito que saibam que a primeira impressão e as primeiras emoções são as melhores, as mais doces. Quando se tenta repetir qualquer coisa ficamos desapontados, porque nada se repete duas vezes.
