[Entrevista] Anna Odobescu: "queremos que as pessoas se apaixonem pela nossa música"

Anna Odobescu voltou a tentar representar a sua sorte no O Melodie Pentru Europa e ganhou o passaporte para Telavive com "Stay". A cantora este à conversa connosco e revelou mais sobre o seu percurso.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Conta-nos mais sobre ti. Como é que a música apareceu na tua vida?

Anna Odobescu (AO): Desde que me lembro a música era a única coisa em que me queria envolver. Estudei no Transnistrian College of Music e também na Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts em Chisinau. Lembro-me de sempre me imaginar num palco, a atuar em frente a pessoas. Era essa a minha maneira de mostrar às pessoas quem eu era realmente, através da minha voz. 

CE: Segues a Eurovisão normalmente? O que achas do concurso? Tens algumas músicas preferidas?

AO: Claro, gosto muito da Eurovisão e sempre fui fã. As músicas, o espetáculo, os momentos criados no palco... formei todas essas imagens. Tem um lugar muito especial no meu coração e, o facto de eu poder fazer parte disso este ano, faz-me mesmo feliz! Uma das muitas músicas que amei foi "Euphoria". Era tão cativante, ver e ouvir ao mesmo tempo. E que excelente artista que era a Loreen...

CE: Esta não foi a primeira vez que tentaste representar a Moldávia. Como é que foi ganhar o  O Melodie Pentru Europa?

AO: Sim, participei na final nacional do ano passado também. Pretendia voltar apenas se sentisse que a minha música podia vencer e aconteceu mesmo isso. O momento em que percebi que ganhei é algo que nunca esquecerei. Fiquei sem palavras, estava tão emotiva e acho que chorei durante quase 10 minutos. Trabalhar muito e alcançar o teu objetivo e o teu sonho é extremamente precioso.

CE: Não precisamos de fazer qualquer tipo de pesquisa para saber que estudaste música porque sabes exatamente como controlar a tua voz e nunca falhas uma nota. Em que medida é que os teus estudos te ajudaram a desenvolver a tua voz e a ti enquanto artista?

AO: Quando decidi começar a estudar música, o meu objetivo era tentar absorver todo o conhecimento, tentar aperfeiçoar o talento que tinha e ficar apta para cantar sabendo exatamente quais as minhas forças e o que sou enquanto artista. A experiência que ganhei depois dos meus estudos, junto a profissionais excelente, ensinou-me muito em questões de atuar e lidar com a minha voz.

CE: Ao ver alguns vídeos teus, a maioria dos covers que vemos são de músicas jazz. É esse o género que preferes cantar e adaptaste-te ao estilo mais pop da Eurovisão?

AO: O jazz é a base dos meus estudos, o género musical que ouvia quando era mais nova e são os artistas desse género que admiro enquanto cantora. Acredito que o jazz, soul e o rock influenciaram a maioria dos grandes artistas mundiais. Dito isto, todos esses géneros pertence à música popular e o que chamamos de pop não tem barreira... inclui tudo. Também adoro músicas pop e gosto tanto delas como algumas jazz. Desde que a música tenha uma melodia forte, gosto. É isto que me faz aceitar uma música... foi por isso que disse sim a "Stay".

CE: Nos últimos dois anos a Moldávia teve lugares incríveis que muitos não esperavam. Achas que consegues continuar este legado?

AO: Juntamente com a minha equipa, isto é definitivamente algo a repetir para a Moldávia. Este ano levamos algo diferente em relação aos últimos dois anos e acho que isso é uma coisa boa. Estamos a trabalhar em algo especial para a nossa atuação em Telavive e eu pretendo dar o meu melhor.

CE: O que é que podemos esperar a tua atuação em Telavive?

AO: Como disse, estamos a trabalhar para ter tudo feito da melhor maneira possível para a nossa atuação na Eurovisão. Estamos a discutir algumas ideias que nos foram propostas por pessoas muito talentosas e estamos a testar todas as opções para encontrarmos a melhor opção para a nossa música. Queremos que as pessoas se apaixonem pela nossa música e a nossa visão da mesma naqueles 3 minutos :)

CE: Ouviste alguma das outras canções em competição este ano? Quais as tuas preferidas?

AO: Ouvi as músicas porque queria ter uma ideia dos outros concorrentes. Há várias de que gostei muito. Há muita variedade de sons e vozes este ano mas prefiro não revelar as minhas preferidas por enquanto. 

CE: Conta-nos mais sobre os teus projetos futuros...

AO: Neste momento estou totalmente focada na Eurovisão. Estamos a trabalhar detalhadamente para apresentar um bom espetáculo vocal e visualmente. Claro que vou fazer alguma promoção no estrangeiro em concertos eurovisivos, programas de televisão e de rádio. É um desafio e uma experiência excelente e certamente planeio dar tudo de mim, deixar toda a gente orgulhosa e viver o momento ao máximo.

CE: Para terminar, diz-nos porque devemos votar em ti...

AO: Se se sentirem ligados à história e mensagem da canção, se a minha voz cria a medida certa de emoção e chega aos vossos corações, acho que têm razões para votar. Canto sobre não desistir dos que amamos, continuar a tentar mesmo quando a batalha parece perdida e acreditar na nossa força interior. A minha música fala sobre a minha verdade e espero mesmo que se apaixonem por ela como eu me apaixonei.

Anna Odobescu tried her luck again this year at O Melodie Pentru Europa and won the chance to represent Moldova in Telavive. The singer talked to her regarding her participation and carreer. 

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Tell us a little about yourself. How did music came into your life?

Anna Odobescu (AO): Ever since I can remember, music was the one thing I wanted to be involved in. I studied at the Transnistrian College of Music and also at the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts in Chisinau. I remember always imagined myself on a stage, performing in front of people. That was my way of showing the people who I really was, through my voice.

CE: Do you usually follow Eurovision? What do you think of the contest? Do you have any favorite songs?

AO: Of course, I really love the contest and I was always a fan. The songs, the show, the moments created on stage, all those images I have from it... it has a very special in my heart and the fact that I'm actually a part of it this year, really makes me happy! One of the many songs I loved, was "Euphoria". It was so captivating, hearing and watching it at the same time. And what an excellent performer Loreen was...

CE: This isn't the first time you tried to represent Moldova in Eurovision. How did it feel to win O Melodie Pentru Europa?

AO: Yes, I have competed in last year's final as well. I intended to return, only if I felt that my song could actually be the winning one and it actually happened. The moment I realized I had won it, is something I will never forget. I was lost for words, felt so emotional and I think I was crying for almost 10 minutes. Working hard and finally achieving your goal and reaching your dream is enormously precious.

CE: We don't need to do any research to know that you've studied music as you know exactly how to control your voice and you never miss a note. How did your studies helped in developing your voice and yourself as an artist?

AO: When I decided to start my Music studies, my goal was to try and take in all knowledge, try to cultivate the talent I had and be able to sing, knowing exactly what my strength is and where I stand as an artist. The experience I gained, after I graduated, next to brilliant professionals, taught me a great deal of things on performing and handling my voice.

CE: By looking at some videos of songs you covered, we see a lot of jazz songs. Is that what you prefer to sing and did you adapt yourself to a more pop style for Eurovision?

AO: Jazz music is definitely the basis of my studies, the songs I used to listen to when I was very young and most importantly the artists I looked up to, as a singer. I do believe that Jazz, Soul and Rock music, have influenced most major artists all over the world. That being said, all of those genres belong to popular music and what we call pop, doesn't have barriers.. it includes everything. I also love pop songs and enjoy them as much as Jazz tunes. As long as there's a strong melody to a song, I'm into it. This is what makes me say yes to a song.. that was the reason to say yes to "Stay"

CE: In the last 2 years Moldova got incredible places that weren't expect by most people. Do you think you can continue this "legacy"?

AO: Together with my team, this is something we definitely want to repeat, for Moldova. This year, we present something different, compared to the last 2 years and I believe this is a good thing. We're working on something special for our show, in Tel Aviv and I intend to give my very best on that stage. 

CE: What can we expect from your stage performance in Tel Aviv?

AO: Like I said, we are working intensively in order to have everything done the best way possible, for our presentation in Eurovision. We've discussing a couple of ideas proposed to us by some very talented people and we're testing all options so we combine the best option to our song. We want people to fall in love with our song and our vision of it, those 3 Eurovision minutes. :-) 

CE: Have you heard any of the other songs competing this year? Which ones are your favorite?

AO: I have heard the songs, as I wanted to get a taste of the participants. There are many I liked a lot.There's a big variety of sounds and voices this year, but  I prefer not to reveal them at the moment".

CE: Tell us about your future projects… Anything exciting coming up?

AO: At the moment, all of my focus is on Eurovision in May... We're working hard in detail for presenting a great show, vocally and visually.. Of course I'll be doing some promotion abroad, attending a few Eurovision concerts, tv shows, radio and also through the web. It's a great challenge and experience and I certainly plan to give my all to make everyone proud and live it to the fullest.

CE: To end, tell us why we should vote for you...

AO: If you have connected to the story of my song and the message I want to send, if my voice creates the right amount of emotion and touches your heart, then I guess you have a reason to vote :-)  I sing about never giving up on the ones you love, keep on trying, even when the battle seems to be lost and always believe in your inner strength and the power. My entry speaks my truth and I really hope you fall in love with it the same way I did.
