Laura Tesoro (LT): Olá, eu sou a Laura Tesoro e tenho 19 anos.

A minha canção chama-se "What's the Pressure" e é uma canção uptempo, funky pop.

ENGLISH VERSION

Laura Tesoro was chosen to represent Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 after win the Eurosong 2016. With 19 years old, she's one of the youngers candidates from this year.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Tell us a little about yourself.

Laura Tesoro (LT): Hi, I’m Laura Tesoro and I’m 19 years old. I was brought up with music and with acting, because my parents were both musical artists. I love to sing, dance and act, and am a very positive and energetic person. And of course I look forward to performing in Stockholm!

CE: How did your musical career began?

LT: I have been surrounded by music for just about my entire life, and when I was 11 I have starred in the musical Annie. After that, I participated in the singing competition The Voice and came in second. That was a great experience and I learned a lot. I’ve been performing with my own band too.

CE: How did your Eurovision adventure started?

LT: I was asked to participate in our Belgian preselections, just like the other candidates. They were looking for young new talent for the Eurovision, and I was very glad that I was asked.

CE: How did you feel when you knew would go to Eurovision?

LT: Amazing! I was so excited, I couldn’t stop jumping up and down with excitement. It must have looked a bit weird haha. I’m very honoured that I get to represent Belgium there.

CE: Do you often follow Eurovision?

LT: I haven’t been following it for a long while, because I’m still young. Only these last years I’ve been following it more intently.

CE: Have you ever dreamed of being part of the Eurovision Song Contest? How would you describe your Eurovision song?

LT: No, it’s amazing that I get this chance now. My song is called What’s the pressure and it’s an uptempo, funky pop song. It was written by the Belgian artist Selah Sue, but I got to make the song more “me”. And I love the message of the song: you need to stop and ask yourself “what’s the pressure?” People worry too much about what others think of them. Just be yourself, and stop worrying about the rest. Everything will be fine!

CE: What would be the strong points that are going to highlight your theme song?

LT: I love that the song is very energetic and positive, just like I am. I have a young and positive energy and I think that’s a big plus in Stockholm.

CE: Can we expect any surprise from your performance? How do you feel about the semifinal in which your country was placed?

LT: Well, I love to dance, so there definitely will be dancing on stage in my performance! I will have dancers with me and the whole performance will be filled with energy.
I think my semifinal is a good one to participate in, but I wouldn’t have minded to be in the first semifinal either. I just discovered my place In the semifinal: I get to perform as 19th so as the last performance, which is a good place I think.

CE: What are your expectations for the participation on Eurovision?

LT: I think my song has a powerful message and I hope that people will like it. Of course you never know beforehand what will happen and the competition is strong, but I wouldn’t sing What’s the pressure if I didn’t believe in it. So I will give my very best on the stage!

CE: What are your favorites songs this year?

LT: I haven’t listened to many songs yet, because I am busy focusing on my own performance, and because I still want to be surprised in Stockholm: I want to see the songs together with their act to see the whole picture.

CE: Do you have future projects coming?

LT: I will of course keep on singing, but I don’t have any concrete plans yet. I am focusing on Eurovision first, and after that I’ll think about the rest.

CE: Do you want to say something to our readers and general portuguese fans?

LT: Hi everyone, thank you for reading this interview and for wanting to get to know me better. I hope that you will enjoy my performance, and maybe I will see some of you there!
