[Entrevista] Lea Sirk: "posso dizer não a tudo o que parece falso nesse mundo"

Lea Sirk vai representar a Eslovénia no Festival Eurovisão da Canção em Lisboa com a canção "Hvala, Ne". A cantora aceitou responder a algumas perguntas feitas por nós, que agora trazemos em exclusivo para si.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Como começou a tua carreira musical?

Lea Sirk (LS): Comecei a minha formação musical com cinco anos. Participei em várias competições nacionais e internacionais e acabei o secundário cedo, com boas notas, enquanto estudava flauta.

Estudei no conservatório de música de Geneva, toquei em várias orquestras e participei em diferentes seminários por toda a Europa. Também acabei o meu mestrado dois anos depois em Artes com especiação em performance musical. 

Durante os meus estudos também me estabeleci enquanto cantora, uma vez que cantar sempre foi uma grande paixão.Comecei a participar regularmente em vários festivais como o EMA, a seleção nacional eslovena para o Eurovision Song Contest (2009, 2010). 

Enquanto corista, já participei duas vezes na Eurovisão, nomeadamente em 2014 em Copenhaga com a Tinkara Kovač e em 2016 em Estocolmo com a ManuElla. 

Trabalho também em estúdio e faço arranjos e atuei em grandes palcos e gravei com imensos artistas eslovenos.

CE: Quem é a tua inspiração musical?

LS: Oiço muitos tipos e estilos de música diferentes. Adoro qualquer tipo de música que ache boa e, quando escrevo, tento fazer o meu melhor para escrever algo assim. Nos últimos anos a Sia é definitivamente quem chamaria de ídolo :)

CE: Como começou a tua aventura na Eurovisão?

LS: "Hvala, ne!" foi gravada para o meu próximo álbum e foi enviada para o EMA apenas para a dar a conhecer ao público esloveno por isso tudo isto foi muito inesperado.

CE: Qual é a história da música "Hvala, Ne" e como é que ela nasceu?

LS: Tomy DeClerque e eu escrevemos a música. É sobre os momentos em que me encontro numa espécie de espaço falso, num mundo virtual. Do meu ponto de vista, há coisas a que posso dizer não. Posso dizer não a tudo o que parece falso nesse mundo, seja às máscaras que as pessoas usam, às pessoas falsas, à manipulação dos media e tudo o resto.

CE: Como te sentes ao representar a Eslovénia na Eurovisão 2018? 

LS: É fantástico :-) Os Eslovenos já me conhecem bem por isso sabem que vou aproveitar o momento e vou para a Eurovisão sem sentir a pressão.

CE: Costumas seguir a Eurovisão? O que achas do concurso? Tens alguma música favorita?

LS: Sou fã da Eurovisão e sei muitas das músicas. Também tive a sorte de fazer parte do evento duas vezes. Fui corista para a Tinkara Kovač (2014) e para a ManuElla (2016). Se tivesse de escolher as minhas preferidas de todos os tempos... "Calm After the Storm" dos The Common Linnets e "Birds" da Anouk. As duas da Holanda!

CE: Podemos esperar alguma surpresa ou novidade na actuação?

LS: Vamos fazer alguns retoques aqui e ali, talvez fazer alguns ajustes, mas o conceito que apresentámos na final nacional será basicamente o mesmo - manteremos tudo puro e espontâneo. Os bailarinos continuarão lá comigo claro, tal como as minhas coristas off-stage e é isso. Quero manter as coisas simples. 

CE: Este ano a Eurovisão será realizada na cidade de Lisboa. O que esperas desta cidade?

LS: Estive em Lisboa recentemente. Estive a gravar o meu postcard na Horta e antes e depois disso estive em Lisboa algumas horas. Fiquei encantada... Amei a cidade e mal posso esperar para voltar e explorar mais um pouco. 

CE: Além de ganhar a Eurovisão, qual é o teu maior sonho neste momento?

LS: Dar um grande concerto no estrangeiro.

CE: Nomeia 5 das tuas coisas favoritas (comida, tv, filmes).

LS: Música, dança, família, computador, limpeza.

CE: Quais os teus projectos futuros?

LS: Vou finalizar o meu segundo álbum e tenho vários concertos. E também continuar a ser uma pessoa positiva :)

CE: Queres deixar alguma mensagem aos nosso leitores ou aos portugueses em geral? 

LS: Caros fãs, por favor mantenham os corações abertos e não julguem os músicos e performers –  aproveitem apenas o que eles criaram. E importante... Na vida, sintam-se à vontade para dizer NÃO quando não gostarem de algo ou não quiserem fazer alguma coisa com a qual não estejam totalmente confortáveis.

Lea Sirk is going to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, with the song "Hvala, Ne". She accepted to answer some questions made by us and now we bring them as an exclusive to you.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): How did your musical career begin?

Lea Sirk (LS): I started my musical education at the age of five. I participated at numerous national and international competitions and finished my secondary school early, with flying colours, while studying the concert flute. 

I studied at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva and had played in various orchestras and participated in different seminars across Europe. I also finished my master studies with honours two years later and became a Master of Arts in Specialised Music Performance. 

During my studies I also established myself as a singer, as singing has always been great passion of my. I began participating regularly at various festivals, as well as EMA, the Slovenian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (2009, 2010). 

As a backing vocalist, I already performed twice at the Eurovision Song Contest, namely in 2014 in Copenhagen with Tinkara Kovač, and in 2016 in Stockholm with ManuElla. 

I am also a studio musician and music arranger and had performed on numerous grand stages and recorded with numerous Slovene musicians.

CE: Who is your musical inspiration?

LS: I listen to lots of different types and styles of music. I just adore any music which I think sounds good and when I write, I try and do my best to write something like that. I would say that definitely in the last few years, Sia would be who I would call my idol :)

CE: How did your Eurovision adventure start?

LS: Hvala, ne! was actually recorded for my forthcoming album and was submitted for EMA just with the aim of introducing it to the Slovenian public, so it was really unexpected.

CE: What’s the story of the song "Hvala, Ne" and how was the song born?

LS: Tomy DeClerque and I wrote and produced the song. It’s about when I find myself in that kind of fake, virtual world. From my point of view, there are things which I can say no to. I can say no to anything that seems to be fake in that world, whether it be the masks that people hide behind, fake people, manipulation by the system or the media and anything else like that. 

CE: How do you feel about representing Slovenia at the Eurovision 2018?

LS: It feels great. :-) The Slovenian people already know me pretty well, so, they know that I’m going to enjoy it and go there without being under pressure.

CE: Do you usually follow the Eurovision? What do you think of the contest? Do you have any favourite songs?

LS: I am a Eurovision fan and I know a lot of songs from it. I am also very lucky to be part of this great event two times already. I was singing backing vocals at Eurovision for Tinkara Kovač (2014) and ManuElla (2016). Uf, If I had to choose the most favourite song of all … The Common Linnets’ Calm After the Storm and Anouk’s Birds. Both from the Netherlands!

CE: Can we expect any surprise from your performance?

LS: We are going to make a few tweaks here and there, maybe do some fine-tuning, but the concept that we presented at the National Final will essentially be the same – we’ll keep it pure and spontaneous. The dancers will still be there with me of course, as well as my backing singer off-stage and that’s it. I want to keep it simple. So, simple is the order of the day!

CE: This year the Eurovision will be held in the Lisbon. Are you looking forward to this city?

LS: I was in Lisbon recently. I was filming Eurovision postcard in Horta and before and after the shooting, I was in Lisbon for a few hours. I was amazed by it. I loved the city and looking forward to go there again and explore it a bit more.

CE: Besides winning Eurovision, what’s your biggest dream at the moment?

LS: Having a big concert in abroad.

CE: Name 5 of your favourite things (food, tv, movies)

LS: Music, dance, family, computer, cleaning.

CE: Do you have future projects coming?

LS: I’ll be finishing off my second album and have quite a few concerts coming up. Also, to stay a positive person. :)

CE: Do you want to say something to our readers and general portuguese fans?

LS: Dear Fans, please open your hearts, feel the music and don’t judge the musicians and performers – just enjoy whatever they have created. And importantly... in life, feel free to say NO when you don’t like something or don’t want to do something that you aren’t entirely comfortable with.
