[Entrevista] Greta Salóme: "vão ver algo nunca antes feito na Eurovisão"

Greta Salóme já não é nenhuma desconhecida do público eurovisivo. Representou a Islândia em 2012 com "Never Forget" e agora regressa sozinha com "Hear Them Calling". Estuda violino desde os quatro anos e atualmente é primeiro violino na Orquestra Sinfónica da Islândia. É também compositora e a autora do tema que leva ao ESC deste ano.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): Como é que começaste a tua vida artística? 

Greta Salóme (GS): Comecei a tocar violino quando tinha quatro anos e tenho estudado a praticado música deste então. A minha primeira aparição a nível profissional foi quando tinha 12 anos a tocar em vários eventos.

CE: Segues a Eurovisão regularmente? Qual a tua música preferida de sempre?

GS: A Eurovisão é uma coisa importante na Islândia por isso toda a gente vê. A cminha canção preferida de sempre é "Molitva" e também "A monster like me".

CE: Alguma vez sonhaste voltar à Eurovisão?

GS: É a minha segunda vez no concurso por isso sim, amo o conceito.

CE: Alguns eurofãs dizem que a tua atuação é demasiado parecida com a do Mans no ano passado. Como é que te sentes em relação a isso? 

GS: Ambos usamos gráficos interativos e isso não é nada de novo e é muito popular nas atuações e tem sido por vários anos. Mas vamos elevar isso a outro nível no palco e  vão ver algo nunca antes feito na Eurovisão.

CE: Como é que descreves a tua canção?

GS: O conceito é sobre influências positivas e negativas na sociedade de hoje em dia. A mensagem da canção é para ouvir as vozes positivas porque, no fim, são elas que te vão levar ao lugar onde pertences. Não deixem as vozes negativas deitarem-vos a baixo.

CE: Podemos esperar surpresas da tua parte? Tens alguma ideia de como será a tua atuação?

GS: Vamos manter-nos fiéis à mensagem da canção, mas estejam prontos para esperar o inesperável.

CE: A Eurovisão ainda é uma porta aberta para ajudar os cantores? Tens medo de ter um mau lugar?

GS: A Eurovisão é um espetáculo fantástico e pode abrir portas aos artistas independentemente do lugar que alcancem. Se te focares demasiado no lugar, acho que estás no caminho errado.

CE: Tens alguma música preferida de outro país este ano?

GS: A minha favorita este ano é a França.

CE: Qual a tua opinião sobre a não participação de Portugal no ESC 2016? Lembras-te de alguma participação portuguesa?

GS: Sim, adorei a Filipa Sousa com “Vida Minha” em 2012.

CE: Tens planos novos para o futuro? 

GS: Sim, estou a fazer um espetáculo para a Disney em cruzeiros e vou voltar a isso em Junho e continuar a publicar a minha música e fazer diversos concertos. Também sou primeiro violino da Orquestra Sinfónica do Norte da Islândia.

CE: Podes deixar uma mensagem para os teus fãs portugueses?

GS: Fui a Lisboa no ano passado com a Disney e amei.

Greta Salóme isn't a strager to eurofans. She represented Iceland in 2012 with the song "Never Forget" and now she's back alone with "Hear Them Calling". She started studying violin when she was 4 years old and nowadays she's  the concertmaster of the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra. She's also a songwriter and wrote the song with which she'll represent Iceland this year.

Crónicas de Eurofestivais (CE): How did you start your artistic life?

Greta Salóme (GS): I started playing the violin when I was 4 years old and have been studying and practicing music ever since. My fist professional gig was when I was 12 years old playing in various events.

CE: Do you follow regularly the Eurovision? Which is your favourite Eurovision song of all time?

GS: Eurovision is very big in Iceland so everybody follows it. My favorite Eurovision song of all time is Molitva and also A monster like me.

CE: Have you ever dreamed of coming back to Eurovision Song Contest?

GS: This is my second time in the competition so yes I love this concept.

CE: Some eurofans say that your performance is too similar to Mans performance last year. How do you feel about that?

GS: Both of us use interactive graphics and that is nothing new and very popular in the performance industry and has been for a few years. But we will be taking it further on the big stage and you will see something that has never been done in Eurovision before.

CE: How would you describe your Eurovision song?

GS: The concept is about positive and negative influences in todays society. The message of the song is to listen to the positive voices because in the end they are the once that will hopefully lead you to where you belong. Don´t let the negative voices weight you down.

CE: Can we expect any surprises from you? Do you have any idea of how it is going to be your performance?

GS: We will remain true to the message of the song but be ready to expect the unexpected.

CE: Is Eurovision still an open door to help the singers? Are you afraid to get a bad place in the contest? 

GS: Eurovision is a great show and can open so many doors for the artist regardless of your positioning in the competition. If you focus too much on your position then I think you are on the wrong path. 

CE: Do you have any favourite music from other country in the contest?

GS: My favorite this year is France.

CE: What is your opinion about the non-participation of Portugal in ESC 2016? Do you remember any Portuguese participation?

GS: Yes I loved Filipa Sousa doing Vida Minha in 2012

CE: Do you have any new projects for the future?

GS: Yes I am doing a show for Disney cruise lines and will be returning to them in June and publishing my music and doing various concerts. And I am the concertmaster of the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra.

CE: Can you please leave a few words to your Portuguese fans…

GS: I went to Lisbon with Disney last year and loved it.
